Police stopped a concert in Derby by G-Unit rapper Lloyd Banks for fear that the concert would attract gun-toting gang members.
According to Derby Telegraph, upon learning of the concert on Monday, the Derbyshire police force applied for a court order to close the T Five down, citing the history of previous violent incidents in Derby and recent shootings in Leicestershire and Leeds.
The court order was indeed granted and T Five was forbidden from opening for 24 hours starting at noon on Saturday. Due to this, the Lloyd Banks’ concert was canceled.
“Because of the lack of preparation time and us finding out at short notice, there hasn’t been time to put the proper contingencies in place to make sure the event goes off in a safe environment,” stated Chief Inspector Gary Parkin, who is responsible for policing in the city centre. “We’re not saying this type of thing won’t happen in Derby but it needs to happen in the right circumstances.”
