Ike Turner ‘Drug Arrest’ a Computer Error, Musician To File $5K Suit

Ike spent a night in jail after he was arrested for the drug warrant which later was found to be an invalid 1989 narcotics warrant pulled up by computer error.

Though musician legend and former husband of singing legend Tina Turner, Ike Turner, 75, has had his share of drug-related run-ins with the law, it seems that his latest run-in with the law and arrest over a driving violation turned drug charge was due to a computer glitch.

Ike spent a night in jail after he was arrested for the drug warrant which later was found to be an invalid 1989 narcotics warrant pulled up by computer error.

”He had court yesterday and I guess that they deemed it was an old warrant that was never removed from the system,” Officer April Harding stated.

Turner was released from jail Wednesday around 3 p.m.

Afterwards, the 75 year old musician told celebrity news site TMZ.com, that after spending the night locked in a freezing cold jail cell with nothing to eat but a banana and a cookie, he wasn’t angry and that he actually complied with officers because, “They could have been right!”

Reportedly, Ike plans to file a $5,000 suit.

According to Ike Turner’s official website, the proclaimed “Father of Rock n Roll” was recently awarded a 2007 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album for his newest compilation CD, “Risin’ with the Blues,” which was released September 14, 2006 on Zoho Roots Music label.
