Memphis Man, a Father with a Pregnant Fiancee, Shot & Killed Outside Tobacco Shop

Yale Discount Tobacco Shooting Bryant McKinney

A Memphis man, Bryant McKinney, was shot and killed outside of the tobacco store he worked at in the Raleigh neighborhood area of Memphis, TN.

Reportedly, McKinney was shot by someone that was inside of a car. The people in the car had stopped at the Yale Discount Tobacco store, used the restroom and at some point an argument began.

McKinney, who had been working at the store since it opened according to the shop’s owner, reportedly followed them outside and into the parking lot and that’s where gunshots erupted.

According to authorities, McKinney was talking to someone who was inside of the vehicle that the people got into – a gold Nissan Altima – when someone from the car fired a shot hitting McKinney.

As McKinney fell back, he was able to fire a shot back at the car hitting one of the people who were inside, as the car sped off.

Police say the car later arrived at Methodist North Hospital where one man was detained by police, another man was pronounced dead as a third person ran from the vehicle and is still being sought by police.

Meanwhile, back at the tobacco shop, a witness of the incident attempted to revive McKinney with CPR but was unable to revive him.

McKinney died on the scene leaving behind a teenage son and fiancee who is 5-months pregnant, according to the shop’s owner.
