Couple Missing Since Responding Back to Craigslist Ad Found Shot in the Head

Bud and June Runion killed after posting Craigslist ad for car

The bodies of two people found dead have been identified as a Georgia couple – Elrey “Bud” Runion, 69, and June E. Runion, 66 – who went missing after answering a Craigslist ad they posted seeking an antique car.

The Runions were reported missing by their daughters after they didn’t show up to the house were they babysit their grandchildren.

“Bud,” according to authorities, had published an ad on Craigslist on January 19th seeking an vintage 1966 Mustang convertible.

A supposed potential seller responded to the ad and the Runions set out on a 180 mile trip to meet the person in a small farming community of McRae in southern Georgia.

Police believe Ronnie “Jay” Towns, 28, may have targeted the couple for a robbery which turned into murder.

According to authorities, the Runions’ phone last communicated with a phone owned by Towns before they went missing.

The Georgia couple’s 2003 GMC Envoy was found not far from the couple’s bodies at another location submerged in a lake.

Both, Bud and June Runion, were shot in the head in what police believe was a botched robbery turned murder.

As of the reported news, the Runions’ family had a Facebook page titled “Find Bud & June Runion,” which had over one hundred thousand supporters leading up to the very unfortunate news that the couple had been found dead.
