Raven Symone Says She Doesn’t Want To Be Called Gay or African American Anymore [Update: ‘I Never Said I Wasn’t Black’]

Raven-Symoné has opened up in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on her OWN TV network about her race and sexual preference.

Put quite bluntly, Raven-Symoné boldly says don’t call her gay or African American stating multiple times she is ‘human’ and American.

Oprah questioned Raven regarding her statement telling her that it would surely cause public reaction.

The openly proud gay actress stated she was tired of the label society places upon her and is not worried about the reactions.

Raven-Symoné continued to defend her views over her skin color, race and stereotyped lifestyle.

[Update: Raven Responds To Critics]

Raven-Symoné has responded to critics saying quite frankly ‘she never said she wasn’t black’ adding that she didn’t believe she would stir up such emotions in people and believes race is definitely something that needs to be discussed in America.

In her statement which was made to E! Online, Raven-Symoné wanted to make it clear that she did not denounce being black but simply does not want to be ‘labeled’ as ‘African American’.
