Woman, 19, With ‘No Car Seat’ Puts Her 5-Mth Old Baby In Trunk To Avoid Ticket

A 19 year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly was driving around with her 5 month-old baby in the trunk of the car she was driving because she was trying to avoid getting a ticket for no car seat.

Breona Synclair Watkins of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida was charged with child abuse among other charges after a 5 month-old baby was found in the trunk of her car during a routine traffic stop.

Watkins was initially stopped because she had a headlight out on the 2005 Dodge Stratus she was driving.

Watkins was riding along with a 14 year-old in the front seat who reportedly said the car belonged to the teen’s mother. What happened next is shocking.

Breona Watkins had the baby at first in the teen passenger’s lap according to reports, but because she didn’t want a ticket for not having a car seat, she had the 14 year-old to hide the baby by putting the baby through an opening in the backseat leaving the baby in the trunk.

Not to mention that was simply a bad idea because of multiple reasons but, making matters worse, the police officers found the baby lying on a large pair of cutting shears in the presence of a rusty tire iron, a rusty metal hanger, a used gas can and other hazardous materials.

Watkins was being held on a $7,000 bond on multiple charges including child abuse, resisting an officer, traffic offenses such as driving without a license and of course, failure to have a child restraint meaning no car seat.
