Yo Gotti, Snoop Dogg, Lil P-Nut, Frayser Boy Featured in Upcoming Award-Winning Documentary ‘Take Me to the River’

The award winning Memphis music documentary Take Me to the River is set to hit the big screens in movie theaters.

“Take Me to the River” which features award winning musical talents including Snoop Dogg, Yo Gotti, Bobby Rush, Academy Award winner Frayser Boy, Lil P-Nut, legendary rapper and producer Al Kapone, Mavis Staples, Bobby “Blue” Bland, The North Mississippi All-Stars and more, was announced this week as being acquired by the distribution company Abramoroma in a joint venture with Social Capital Films.

The film, which is narrated by actor and musician Terrance Howard, who played Djay in the Memphis movie Hustle & Flow, premiered at the 2014 South By Southwest Film Festival where it was awarded the 24 Beats Per Second Audience Award.

Take Me to the River, which is described as a documentary that celebrates the “inter-racial musical influence of Memphis in the face of pervasive discrimination and segregation” is slated to be in movie theaters this September 12, 2014.
