The hip hop beef between Common and Drake may not be today's news, but the reason for the past beef has finally been revealed by rapper Common himself.
A little around a year ago, the two hip-hop artists had a rap beef to go down.
Drake proclaimed himself to be the winner of that beef.
Apparently, during that time, the beef was believed to have been over rapper Drake being referred to in the same reference as 'sweet,' but now Common claims the beef had to do in part with tennis star Serena Williams.
Having dated Serena Williams at one time, rapper Common revealed that at the time when he and Serena were 'going'.. separate ways,' he believed it "was an emotional thing" that he felt had to do with a "Drake-Serena situation."
Common reveals that's what it was about but it was turned more into a "do you respect me" battle.
The Chicago rapper and actor went on to add that his mention of 'sweet' in his song was meant for those "doing sweet music" and "(Drake) must have took offense."
Common added he's glad that it didn't escalate into something physical.
