In a shocking and unfortunate tragic story in news, a 16 year-old girl was stabbed to death inside a Connecticut high school by a classmate right before the prom, authorities said.
Maren Sanchez, an 11th grade student at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, Connecticut, has been identified as the victim who died from stab wounds and was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital.
Rumors have it that the stabbing was related to Maren Sanchez refusing to go on a prom date with the boy who is in custody for attacking her because she had planned already to go with her boyfriend.
Her attacker, the 16 year-old teen boy, who is alleged to be the victim's possible ex-boyfriend, according to friends and classmates, is said to have shoved Sanchez down the stairs trying to choke her before attacking her with a kitchen knife that the boy reportedly brought from the kitchen at his home.
The 16 year-old, identified as Chris Plaskon, reportedly gave no resistance to police when being taken in.
Sanchez had severe injuries in her neck area from her isolated attack that occurred inside the school in the hallway on Friday morning.
The prom, which was scheduled for Friday night, has since been postponed and the school was closed down as well while police investigated the crime scene.
A family member, a cousin described the 16 year-old Maren Sanchez as a "bright light full of hopes and dreams" adding that she had "her future at her finger tips."
