Along with the news of the death of Courtney Cash, 23, came the news of her boyfriend William Austin Johnson, who reportedly escaped with their 20-month old baby while suffering from his multiple stab wounds.

According to police, Courtney Cash’s body was hidden in a large cedar chest in the home at 8129 Rice Road in Baxter, TN (Putnam County, Tennessee), which apparently, the suspect in this brutal death was attempting to hide Cash’s body.

While details are sketchy, the motive for this crime is believed to be connected to drugs.

Wayne Gary Masciarella, 27, a friend of the couple, has been charged with first degree murder after being a suspect who reportedly met with Cash and Johnson when things allegedly turned violent.

Tommy Cash released a statement asking for everyone to respect the privacy of his family during this tragedy of his granddaughter, while he appreciates the public’s support.
