Memphis Woman Stabs Her Kids, Says “The Voices Made Me Do It”

A Memphis mother has been charged with killing two of her children and now neighbors are wanting answers as to why they were killed by their mother, Jamina Briggs, 23.

Neighbors of Briggs says it was known she suffered from a mental disorder and are asking why one of the sons, that had been removed from the home, was there.

On Wednesday, Jamina Briggs, a mother of three, made a call to 911 and told the dispatcher she stabbed two her sons. When police arrived, she had blood on her hands and told them she was sorry.

According to police, Jamina Briggs told them she was schizophrenic and that voices told her to do it.

Jamina Briggs is accused of stabbing her two boys, 23-month-old Jeremiah Briggs and 6-year-old Nicholas Briggs, who was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Briggs’ 6 year-old son Nicholas was removed from her home on last year and her 9 year-old daughter was taken from her back in 2007.

The question everybody is wanting the answer to is why was Nicholas not in the care of the relative who was suppose to be caring for him.

Meanwhile, Briggs has been charged with two-counts of first degree murder.

Jamina Briggs is due in court on August 16.
