Amanda Berry, who was one of the three victims rescued from captivity on May 6, 2013, after being kidnapped by Ariel Castro in Cleveland, Ohio in 2002, made her first public event appearance on the concert stage with rapper Nelly.

Berry made a surprise appearance on stage alongside hip hop artist Nelly who was performing at a concert for the RoverFest on Saturday.

Smiling happily, Amanda Berry could be seen in jeans, a black t-shirt and sunglasses with her family and close friends by her side.

DJ Rover aka Shane French stated that he was not for sure if Berry would attend the event after he made an impromptu invitation during his show in which he stated, “I just said that she had 10 years of partying to make up for and she should come,”

As Amanda Berry made her way to the stage, he announced, “I told her she had a little bit of time to make up on the partying and you guys would help her out tonight.”

Amanda Berry’s appearance came one day after her abductor Ariel Castro pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.

Castro, a former school bus driver, was indicted on 977 counts, including 512 counts of kidnapping, 446 counts of rape, and 2 counts of aggravated murder and, of out of all them, he plead guilty to a total of 937 criminal counts after entering a plea bargain.

Under his plea, Castro gave up his home where he held victims Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight captive for 10 years, which the city plans to demolish.

Ariel Castro has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole, plus 1,000 years.

As Castro sits in jail for his dirty deeds, Amanda Berry is reclaiming her life partially taken from her and rejoices with Nelly and celebrities in her hometown at RoverFest.
