Diddy Signs On For Memphis Football Film ‘Undefeated’ As Exec Producer

Seems that hip-hop mogul, actor and business man Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has signed on as an executive producer for the Oscar-nominated Memphis film documentary ‘Undefeated’ with The Weinstein Company (TWC). The documentary “Undefeated” is about student athletes on the Manassas High School Football Team in Memphis, TN and volunteer coach Bill Courtney who helped turn the North Memphis team into Tiger champions.

“Undefeated” first made its film debut at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival, premiered at the Indie Memphis Film Festival at Playhouse on the Square, and is expected to be shown in a limited number of theaters starting February 17, 2012.

As for Sean Combs, he describes the documentary as a great American story with a lot of heart and soul. “I couldn’t get it out of my mind when I saw it,” says Combs after seeing “Undefeated.”

Combs, who has produced his own fleet of projects which include the award-winning “A Raisin In The Sun,” went on to say that there is a lot of truth and hope in the film “Undefeated” and he feels passionately that everyone who sees it will be inspired.

A planned feature remake of the documentary “Undefeated” is expected to be underway, and Diddy signed on as Executive producer for the Undefeated remake as well.

Meanwhile, “Undefeated” is nominated for an Oscar/Academy Award in the category of “Best Feature Documentary.”

The 84th Academy Awards will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California on February 26, 2012 and will be aired on ABC.
