West Memphis Police Shootout Takes Suspects Lives and Two Police Officers

Thursday evening in a Walmart parking lot in West Memphis, a shoot out occurred between two suspects, Jerry and Joe Kane, and West Memphis Police.

Before the shootout took place, a witness recalled seeing them at her apartment complex and stated that they looked nervous and scared.

Moments afterwards, they left the apartment complex and the witness heard gun fires coming from the nearby Walmart.

Jerry Kane, 45, and his son Joseph Kane, 16, were the suspects involved in the shooting and killing of two West Memphis police officers.

Before the shootout in the Walmart parking lot happened, the Kanes shot and killed Officer Bill Evans, and Sergeant Brandon Paudert during a traffic stop earlier that Thursday.

Ninety minutes later, the police got a call about the suspects in Walmart’s parking lot, and that’s when the shootout happened.

During the shootout, Crittenden County Sheriff D--k Busby and a deputy, W. A. Wren, were shot and wounded, and both Jerry and Joseph Kane were killed while still in their white van.
