MemphisRap.com has learned that Memphis-based Grammy nominated producer, Kurt 'KC' Clayton (who's worked with names such as Three 6 Mafia, Project Pat, Stevie Wonder, George Clinton, Chaka Khan, just to name a few), has been selected to produce popular Nigerian Soul and R&B artist Darey Art Alade's newest album.
Clayton, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Memphis & Shelby County Music Commission, will oversee the entire music project of the Nigerian R&B music artist's third highly anticipated album including production and writing.
"I am blessed that someone appreciated my body of work enough to recommend me to oversee a Nigerian artist and instruct the other producers on the project," Clayton says in his statement released to MemphisRap.com. "This is another great opportunity for Memphis to shine on a global scale, and I am pleased to share my talent with Darey and his country," he adds.
"My goal is to take a little Memphis flavor to Nigeria in order make this CD his hottest one yet," the President and Owner of KC Productions, Kurt Clayton, continued.
In related news, Kurt Clayton, whose production work with The Canton Spirituals earned him a 2004 Grammy nomination and work with recording artist Ann Nesby (formerly of Sounds of Blackness) earned him a 2003 Grammy nomination, also currently serves as musical director for the Legends of Funk Tour with The Bar-Kays, Con Funk Shun, the Dazz Band, Sugarfoot, Slave and the Ohio Players.
Darey Art Alade, who may not be a recognizable name to those here in the United States, debuted in 2006 with album "From Me 2 U" and has since performed on the same stage with names such as Beyonce, Jay Z, Kelly Rowland, Marques Houston, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, K-Ci and Jojo, Rihanna, Shakira, Usher, Joe, Sean Paul, Akon, Ciara, En Vogue and Method Man.
