Free Studio Workshops

The Memphis Music Foundation is planning another round of tutorials for our MRC Digital Audio Workstation room! These workshops will offer instruction on advanced techniques and information on recording/engineering. Even if you have used up all five of your 2-hour DAW room sessions, you are still eligible to participate.

A few details on each of the sessions:

July 23rd
Workshop:
Learn the basics of our DAW room setup, an overview of components (mics, audio interfaces, preamps, software, etc.) and discuss the entire recording process – Planning, pre-production, tracking, overdubs, mixing, mastering. Also, we will discuss when it’s necessary to go into a professional studio vs. a home setup.

July 25th
Workshop:
An actual demonstration of a recording session, demonstrating differences between home studio (DAW room) vs. professional studio (Ward Archer’s Studio). Material will be referenced from the previous workshop and we will touch on the basic concepts we introduced. The recording session will feature Kevin Houston (engineer) demonstrating the processes and advantages of recording in a professional studio.
