Mississippi rapper and platinum hip hop artist David Banner gave back to his hometown neighborhood with his Heal the Hood drive, which had an iniative to bring holiday cheer to needy families headed by single parents in the Jackson, MS area by providing gifts for each member of the household.
On Monday, Banner himself personally delivered the gifts to families, assisted by a small team of volunteers and Banner didn't forget about the kids -- as the cause also included presenting age appropriate developmental and educational gifts for children along with a $50 gift card each family to help buy groceries and other items for their holiday celebrations.
Following the gift-giving Monday, Banner held a Heal the Hood reception at Schimmel's Restaurant in downtown Jackson on Tuesday night.
In related news, David Banner is set to perform at the American Music Inaugural Ball on January 20 and will attend special events surrounding the President-Elect Obama. Banner will also be performing on the David Letterman Show in February 2009 during sweeps.
