CAUTION: ‘Toy Guns’ May Be Fake, But Jail Time Is Real

The House has approved a bill which would keep children and teens from buying imitation guns.

If you’re under 18 years of age, you may have to ask your mother or father to buy you that fake gun at the toy store, since the House has approved a bill which would keep children and teens from buying imitation guns. In addition, the bill will also make displaying a fake gun in a threatening manner against the law.

Sponsored by Memphis Democrat Representative John Deberry, the bill was approved 63-29 on Thursday. Now the only thing left is to get the chambers to work out the kinks in the bill prior to it being sent to the governor for consideration.

Although Federal law requires toy guns to be assembled with an orange tip, the tip is stated to be easily removable or altered.

The question is, how will this bill hamper toy gun makers?
