Re-Cap of Memphis In May 2008 Beale Street Music Festival

Memphis In May Beale Street Music Festival started out with a day of thunder storming, rain and lightning, but turned into a fun weekend of great performances and partying!

Well although the Memphis In May Beale Street Music Festival started out with a day of thunder storming rain and lightning, it didn’t stop the performances and partying! Word was that nothing would hold back Memphis rap duo Lord T and Eloise and Memphis rap’s Project Pat of Hypnotize Minds either from hitting the Memphis In May stage, lightning or not.

Although Memphisrap.com’s Deanna Brown, who was covering at this year’s music festival, was not able to make Friday’s performances, she did however make it through to catch Al Kapone aka Al Kapeezy hit the stage, and as Deanna put’s it, “he definitely knows how to entertain!”

I watched from backstage and took few pics of the performance. He had dancers with the matching “Oh Boy” shirts on and they even had the guitar player screaming “Whoop that Trick”, It was a classic performance!

Not only did Deanna catch up with Al Kapone but she also had a chance to catch up backstage with hip-hop’s Arrested Development, group of the popular 1990’s top-charting song “Tennessee” and “People Everyday”. Expect a followup from Deanna Brown with them sometime next week.

More great acts were on hand for performances including Aretha Franklin and Fergie who, according to Deanna Brown, Fergie was a “bad a-s!”

That girl is bad a-s! She had some of the best dancers on stage that I have ever seen…..They kept the crowd entertained from start to finish. Fergie was definitely looking hot in some tight leather pants and amazed everyone with her one handed cart-wheel on stage! She sang all the crowd favorites and closed it up with “Fergalicious” That was a great way to end a fun weekend.
