Sony BMG Hooks Up with Nokia To Provide Unlimited Music Service

Music giant Sony BMG has hooked up with Nokia’s unlimited music services. Nokia made the announcement Tuesday.

Music giant Sony BMG has hooked up with Nokia’s unlimited music services. Nokia (NYSE:NOK) made the announced today. Consumers who buy a Nokia Comes With Music device will have a year of access to the SONY BMG catalog of music according to the company. Consumers will have the ability to download tracks to both their mobile device and PC through the Nokia Music Store during the first twelve months that they own their Nokia device. However, they won’t be able to transfer the tracks to iPods or other non-compatible devices.

Those who have downloaded tracks will be able to keep their music for the rest of their lives, but at the end of the year, users will have the choice of acquiring new music by either purchasing downloads from the Nokia Music store or joining its “unlimited access” subscription service to be able to access new releases not downloaded during their initial use of the service.

Nokia’s Comes With Music is expected to launch in the second half of 2008.
