Teen Girls To Be Charged As Adults For Video Taped Beating, May Face Life In Prison


The 8 teens arrested for beating up a fellow student and video taping it after seeing an alleged ‘trash talking’ MySpace post are scheduled Friday to be tried as adults.

As recently reported on Memphisrap.com, a cheerleader and her friends in Lakeland, Florida were arrested for beating up a fellow student and video taping it after seeing an alleged ‘trash talking’ MySpace post. According to Sheriff Grady Judd, the 16 year-old teen was beat unconscious in a bedroom and then later awoke on a couch in the living room to more beating and screaming. The fight happened on March 30th at 6124 West Calendar Court in Lakeland.

The victim, now known as Victoria Lindsay, was reportedly left with a concussion, a damaged eye causing blurred vision, hearing loss, and multiple bruises while the attackers – eight Florida teenagers — six of them girls in the video: Mercades Nichols, 17, Brittini Hardcastle, 17, April Cooper, 14, Cara Murphy, 16, Britney Mayes, 17, Kayla Hassell, 15, Zachary Ashley, 17, and Stephen Schumaker, 18, are all now being charged as adults, and according to some reports may even be facing life in prison.

The video of the beating shows only the girls doing the beating while the boys allegedly acted as lookouts.

Prosecutors in Polk County, Fla. have said the girls who attacked Lindsay in the video could face convictions on battery and kidnapping charges (which is a first-degree felony), which was reported Thursday.

Three of the suspects have also been charged with tampering with a witness.

The teens are scheduled for their first appearance in court Friday.
