Memphis Tigers Defeats Texas, Advances To Final Four


Memphis Tigers takes out the Texas Longhorns in their latest basketball game which won them the NCAA South Regional championship. The University of Memphis Tigers has now advanced to the Final Four.

University of Memphis freshman, Derrick Rose (voted the South Regionals Most Outstanding Player) scored 21 points, received nine assists, and grabbed six rebounds while playing the Texas Longhorns.

At half-time Memphis jumped from a 39-28 lead against the Longhorns. Antonio Anderson banked a three-pointer which give the Tigers a 46-34 lead five minutes into the second half. The Memphis Tigers shot 50% from the field and 83 percent from the free-throw line, which killed off the rumors that their poor shooting would hurt them going to the Final Four. Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 25 points, 14 from the free-throw line, and Joey Dorsey added a second double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Texas struggled throughout the game against the Memphis Tigers’ with Derrick Rose outplaying Texas star D.J. Augustin.

The Tigers won with 85-67 advancing them into the Final Four for the third time in school history.

At the next game, the Memphis Tigers will play West champion UCLA on Saturday in one of two Final Four semifinals games in San Antonio’s Alamodome.
