MySpace May Be An Unsafe Place

MySpace was used as a prank but ended in suicide.

Last year a teen Megan Meier, 13, committed suicide after being teased on MySpace and her grieving parents want justice. The mother of the former friend played a cruel joke that ended tragedy. The mother and daughter created this imaginary boy. They gave him a profile and the works. Initially he seemed interested in the girl pretending to like her. Without regard to the her mother’s warnings, the teen pursued the online relationship. Suddenly he turned on her calling her names, and rallying others to hate her as well. The thirteen year old girl hung herself over the rejection. The mother behind the childish prank wants the other family to leave it alone and have offered no apology. With all the dangers, parents have to constantly monitor everything their child does. Even if they don’t like it.
