Sony BMG Music Entertainment Inks Deal With MobiTV

Both companies (Sony BMG Music Entertainment & MobiTV) will also be collaborating on the creation of a number of customized channels which will feature original video programming.

Sony BMG Music Entertainment and MobiTV which delivers content to mobile and broadband networks, today announced the addition of more than 2,400 music videos. MobiTV will tie in music videos from Sony BMG Music Entertainment into their existing music channels where fan will access to more 7,000 music videos through the mobile service.

Both companies (Sony BMG Music Entertainment & MobiTV) will also be collaborating on the creation of a number of customized channels which will feature original video programming. Content that will be made available through the customized channels will include long-form concerts, genre and artist-driven shows and series, as well as programming created by the artists themselves. Some of the programming will be made available for an additional fee.

“MobiTV is the only mobile television service in the industry that has the rights to stream full-length music videos from three major music groups,” said Nancy Levin, Executive Producer of Music Television for MobiTV. “MobiTV continues to prove itself as the dominant player in mobile television by opening doors for top labels & artists; giving their content an extended reach across entertainment platforms of the future.”

Currently, subscribers can access music videos from the industry’s leading music labels, throughout seven of the branded channels provided by MobiTV. The channels are categorized by a number of genres including rap, hip-hop, pop, country, Latin, rock and alternative. Unlike other mobile services, MobiTV allow subscribers full unlimited access to music videos beyond their subscription.
