Hotel Heiress Paris Hilton Checks Into Jail For 23 Day Sentence


Paris admits that she is scared, but she’s ready to face the consequences of violating probation. “During the past few weeks I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes,” Hilton said in a statement released by her attorney Richard Hutton.

Hotel Heiress Paris Hilton, 26, has officially been checked in the Century Regional Detention Facility jail just a few hours shy of attending the 2007 MTV Movie Awards. The Simply Life reality star will serve 23 days in the Lynwood’s Century Regional Detention Facility in California for driving on a suspended license while still on probation for a previous charge for DUI.

The actress/singer and hotel heiress was originally sentenced to 45 days, but the time was cut short due to the crowded county jail system and statue that allows time off for good behavior in California according to earlier reports.

Paris admits that she is scared, but she’s ready to face the consequences of violating probation. “During the past few weeks I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes,” Hilton said in a statement released by her attorney Richard Hutton.

“This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make. I want to thank my family, friends and fans for their continued support. Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence.”

Hilton was picked up at her parents’ home after the MTV awards by Hutton in which he drove her mother Kathy and her sister Nicky to the downtown Los Angeles lockup station. Paris surrendered at the Men’s Central Jail at 23:15 PM (11:15 PM ) and was booked at approximately 23:38 PM (11:38 PM) according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and booking information. Paris Hilton surrended at the Men’s Central Jail inorder to avoid the media frenzy and from there she was transported to the Lynwood facility at around 1 AM this morning (Monday).

The Los Angeles Sherrif’s Department stated that Paris Hilton was very cooperative throughout the booking process where she received her booking number, wristband ID, orange top, pants and personal hygience items in exchange for her glamorous personal property.

Paris will spend her time in the Century Regional Detention Facility 12-cell housing unit which holds 24 inmates at a time. The facility provides the same standard accommodatoin as a typical cell.

Paris’ projected release date is June 26, 2007.
