Miami authorities are currently looking to question rap artist Fat Joe "Jose Cartagena" who they believe witnessed a double murder in South Beach Florida on Monday morning. Police have stated that the rapper may have been sitting in a rented black Cadillac Escalade with his acquaintances "Lessli Paz and Joey Navarro "outside of David's Cafe II at around 6 am.
According to reports, Fat Joe's passengers allegedly got into a verbal argument and then a fight broke out with all three parties punching and kicking each other. Jermaine "Wufgang" Chamberline reached into his pocket at the Cafe and pulled out a 9 mm handgun and fired four shots into Fat Joe's group. Chamberline shots ended up killing Lessli Paz at the scene and Joey Navarro who later died later at the hospital. Lessli Paz was shot once and Joey Navarro was shot three times.
Four men where held at the scene after telling police officials that they were friends of the deceased men, but they failed to cooperate.
Jermaine Chaberline who left the murder scene later was arrested after a policeman spotted him at an apartment building as a doorman near the crime scene. Once detained Chamberline admitted to killing both parties and was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felony.
"If it weren't for that stop, we probably would never have solved this crime," Miami Beach police spokesman Bobby Hernandez told the Miami Herald. "We weren't getting any cooperation from the victim's so-called friends."
Fat Joe's next studio album, "My World" is expected to release this summer.
