Spider-Man 3: Are Women The Downfall of Our Superheroes?

We all know of the tale of Superman to the rescue of Lois Lane, who is constantly in danger, which usually, his rescue attempts lead Superman into danger as well.

We all know of the tale of Superman to the rescue of Lois Lane, who is constantly in danger, which usually, his rescue attempts lead Superman into danger as well. Then, Batman is the same, but with various girlfriends rather than the loyal and faithful pursuit of one damsel in distress such as Superman which leads us to world infamous Spider Man and the girl-next-door, Mary Jane.

But first let’s not forget, that even so, in X-Men, the ever-so unconnected Wolverine and somewhat counterpart Cyclops, who both seem to vie for the love of another X-Men superhero, Phoenix, which lead to their almost destruction in “X-Men: The Last Stand.” Or how about Hulk who throughout the entire movie vies for the love of one, Betty, which eventually leads to his capture as well as King Kong captured on Skull Island, which does the same, eventually finding his love Ann Darrow in the Big City, leading to his re-capture and death. Or what about Spawn who even after literally burning to death could not be the superhero he was destined to be for continually holding on to his loved one of his human past, his wife Wanda Blake which his enemies used against him as well almost causing his demise.

Now, in Spider-Man 3, there was no difference, as he comes back for Mary Jane, but also falls victim to a new character he rescues, Gwen Stacy.

“I just think they know they can get him that way. The villains would find him one way or the other. We’d have to create something for the villains to get to him. It’s kind of the most obvious way in, I guess,” Tobey Maguire said who plays Peter Parker aka Spiderman in the movie “Spider-Man 3.”

Laura Ziskin one of the producers of the movie believes the director Sam Raimi just loves putting a sexy girl in a tight-fitting outfit, hanging from something in the movie.

Either way it goes, women bring emotion to these superheros’ lives and keeps drama going and the audience intuned with the character because without the drama and the adventure then all the superhero’s will be just a man in a suit saving people. Herein lies the question “Are Women The Downfall of Our Superheroes?”
