Paris Hilton Sentenced To 45 Days In Jail, Fires Publicist, Claims Cruelty

The hotel heiress Paris Hilton, 26, will be going to jail on June 5, 2007 for 45 days at the Los Angeles County jail for driving her Bentley with a suspended license.

The hotel heiress Paris Hilton, 26, will be going to jail on June 5, 2007 for 45 days at the Los Angeles County jail for driving her Bentley with a suspended license and violating her parole according to the Los Angeles Superior Court. If Paris fails to report to the Century Regional Detention Facility in suburban Lynwood on June 5 she’ll be facing a longer sentence of 90-days.

Paris Hilton’s mother Kathy has sited the ruling by Judge Michael T. Sauer to be a “a joke”.

She’s raged, “This is pathetic and disgusting, a waste of taxpayer money with this nonsense. It’s a joke.”

Attorney Howard Weitzman thinks the sentence for his client Paris Hilton was “uncalled for, inappropriate and bordered on the ludicrous” and that the hotel heiress is being “singled out.”

Since Paris’ sentence, sources state that she’s pointing the finger at her publist Elliot Mintz who is no longer representing her for allegedly telling her that she could drive for work related reasons even though in September she was arrested for DUI, given three years probation and had her license suspended then.

On February 27, 2007, Paris was stopped for driving her Bentley with the headlights off on a suspended licensed which violated her probation and resulted to the 45-day jail sentence.

While in court, the hotel heiress tried to feed the claim to Judge Michael T. Sauer that she only followed the orders of her publicist. Judge Michael T. Sauer rejected the claim that Paris Hilton thought she was allowed to drive and ordered her to turn herself in by June 5th.

According to a spoken statement to the judge by Paris Hilton she admitted she didn’t read the mail sent to her about the license suspension, but instead she has other people to do it for her and she just signs when they tell her. Maybe this is a sign to sometimes read documents and don’t always depend on others for everything.

As for Elliot Mintz, he attempted to rescue Paris Hilton by testifying, but it was rejected by the judge. Since then Mintz has now apologized for giving Paris Hilton bad advice.

Some photographers stated that on Saturday Paris Hilton told them that, “I told the truth. I feel that I was treated unfairly and that the sentence is both cruel and unwarranted. I don’t deserve this.”

Paris Hilton’s reality TV show, “The Simple Life,” co-starring her friend Nicole Richie,” returns to the airwaves for its fifth season later this month. The expected airing was set for March 2007, but was put on hold, as Nicole Richie had to enter a health care facility for her ongoing issues with her weight and Paris now facing legal issues.
