Now that the once Hypnotize Camp Posse member has inked a new deal with SRC/Universal, the Orange County (Orlando) based rapper Grandaddy Souf is preparing to drop his debut album under the label, entitled Chasing My Dream which Souf tells MemphisRap.com is exactly what he’s been doing (chasing his dream). “I decided that a lot of the rap I hear now, I don’t feel like I hear an honest street confession; alot of n----s just be saying s--t.. well I wanted to be real.. I want to be successful! So I wanted to reflect that in my album,” says Souf to MemphisRap.com via phone Monday evening.

“Imma give you my whole story and my dream is to be successful .. that’s what we all want, I hope,” adds Souf.

The first single off “Chasing My Dream” is “Keep Em’ Coming Back.” When asked about the meaning of the single Souf says, “Well when I’m talking to a female right.. basically what I’m sayin is that when I put that blue ribbon ding-a-ling on em it keep ’em coming back,” Souf chuckles.

The title track on the album features a track produced by Memphis’ own Joe Da CEO, producer who’s known for such nationwide hits as “Kodak Moment” (So So Def / Kavious), “Kodak Moment remix” off Jermaine Dupri’s “Young, Fly & Flashy, Vol. 1” and “My Girlfriend” off Dem Franchise Boyz’ CD/DVD “On Top of Our Game.”

When asked was he still with Hypnotized Minds, Souf says he never really was with the label, owned by Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul and Juicy J, but instead he was just a member of HCP, but says he’s no longer with them. “I was a part of Hypnotize Camp Posse, we did songs together but that was that era and this is a new era,” says Souf.

When asked about his newfound success with Universal, the rapper had a list of people he says he had thanks for that: including DJ Freddy Hydro, Cutta Boy, DJ Robstorm, Lil Larry, Joe Da CEO (producer of title track ‘Chasing My Dream’), his manager Nicky Kancey of Bombshell Management, DJ Dirty, DJ Colock, DJ Nick at Nite, DK Ike Gda, DJ Stickman and others.

“I’m real.. I thank everybody that f----d with me and still fucks with Grandaddy Souf,” stated Souf.

Chasing My Dream is scheduled to hit stores June 26, but before that, a promo tour for the album is expected to start sometime mid-May.
