Fox’s American Idol will be airing Memphis & NY auditions Tuesday & Wednesday at 8/7c, only on FOX. More than 16,000 registered people came out to the FedExForum for the auditions in Memphis which was one of the second largest in American Idol history.
On January 16, 2007 the premiere of this year’s American Idol drew an astonishing 37.3 million viewers. The show aired contestants who auditioned in Minneapolis. The following night, 36.9 million viewers tuned in to watch auditions which took place in Seattle which Simon called the worse city and also stated that they won’t be returning.
The show gave FOX-TV its highest ratings ever for entertainment programming and made it the most-watched on U.S. television according to Nielsen Media Research.
