In 2005, between 3.4 and 6.2 million people were newly infected and between 2.4 and 3.3 million people with AIDS died, an increase from 2004 and the highest number since 1981 according to reports. For 2006 an estimated 4.3 million new cases of infected people are expected globally for both adults and children with approximately 34,000-65,000 newly infected in the United States. In 2006 it was estimated 1.4 million adults and children will likely be living with HIV.
Recently 50 Cent also announced that he has co-written three novels, where he stated: "The kids become immune when you constantly beat them over the head, 'Read a book, read a book.' We have to be a little more creative about it. It's the same with safe sex. As opposed to being part of a safe sex campaign, I'm going to make condoms and donate a part of the proceeds to HIV awareness."
