Seinfeld’s Kramer: The Two-Sided Sword of Racism

With all the hype behind recent remarks made by former "Seinfeld" actor Michael Richards, AKA "Kramer", questions of 'double-standard' attitudes and arguments have arisen.

With all the hype behind recent remarks made by former "Seinfeld" actor Michael Richards, AKA "Kramer", questions of 'double-standard' attitudes and arguments have arisen.

Reports of Richards' racial outbursts in a local L.A. Comedy Club has caused quite a stir among Black Political Leaders. A video of the incident is being played on TZM.com in courtesy of MSNBC.com.

Although Richards has been seen and heard nationwide spitting apologies, many are questioning his sincerity in the apologies. This brings forth many questions other than his racial standpoint; There have been many accounts where black comedians have used racial jokes to get laughs, and other nationalities as well; but how is it that when someone makes a joke against black people, there's an uproar?

This is not being stated to support Richards in any matter; and definitely not an excuse for his foul behavior. But the incident just brings forth a question of this racial issue we have had hanging around our necks for generations and probably generations to come.

So, with that being stated, here comes the opportunity for you to voice your opinion. Do you think it's okay for comedians and entertainers to use racism as a prop to motivate their audiences? Why is it so complicated for a person to express themselves, without offending someone else? Will we, as a nation ever be able to live in harmony, and what does this show our youth?

There were no actual reports of any pending actions being taken against Richards for the outbursts, but it was stated that he was no longer welcomed to venues in the L.A. area.
