Daz Dillinger is ”So So Gangsta”

Rapper/producer Daz Dillinger is back with a new album release on Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label titled “So So Gangsta”.

Rapper/producer Daz Dillinger is back with a new album release on Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label titled “So So Gangsta”. The first single off of So So Gangsta is “On Some Real” with Miami rapper Rick Ross. Other features on the album inlude Jagged Edge, Johnta Austin, Kurupt and production by Jermaine Dupri, Scott Storch and No ID.

Though Daz is mostly known for his work with Death Row Records at the height of West Coast rap’s popularity, So So Gangsta is reported to bring the same West Coast flavor that drew Daz and Tha Dogg Pound attention in the nineties but there’s no doubt about Dillinger’s presence in the South. As a matter of fact, So So Gangsta follows Daz’s CD “Gangsta Crunk” which was recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee and featured hot tracks “It’s Time To Ride On ‘Em,” with Yo Gotti and License To Kill. The Intro was also a tribute to the South entitled “Tenna Key” (slang for Tennessee) featuring Memphis DJ Lil Larry.

Daz signed record deals with Death Row after being introduced to Dr. Dre by Warren G just as Dre began recording his seminal 1992 album, The Chronic. Daz and partner Kurupt released their first album “Dogg Food” on Death Row in 1995 as Tha Dogg Pound. Dillinger also contributed to The Chronic as well as his cousin Snoop Dogg’s multi-platinum Doggystyle, Tupac Shakur’s All Eyez on Me and the majority of the label’s multi-platinum releases.

“So So Gangsta” is scheduled for release September 12, 2006.

In related news, Daz also recently directed his first documentary “My Summer Vacation,” about street life in St. Louis. The film is due in 2007.
