The world of urban music has advanced to the point where there is a demand for numerous urban awards shows. The list goes from the BET Awards, Soul Train Awards, SEA Awards and the Billboards R&B/ Hip Hop Awards to name a few. The life of urban music artists has developed into much more than just that of studio life. Jamie Foxx leads the list in nominations with eight. This actor turn musical genius has had a busy year. He has been named among 23 entertainers who will have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year, and is nominated for top R&B/hip-hop album and R&B/hip-hop artist from the Billboard Awards. Foxx is also nominated for R&B/hip hop song, male artist and airplay. Some new names to the list of nominates are Chris Brown, Lyfe Jennings, Young Jeezy, Keyshia Cole who is nominated for three awards, and Ne-Yo.
The 2006 Billboard Awards will be held on September 8 at Renaissance Waverly in Atlanta, GA. The awards are the last event of a three-day conference that will be attended by over 700 of the big names in the music industry.
