Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton to fight ‘Smokin’ Joe Frazier in Memphis, TN

Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton, 65, has announced that come this September 2006 he will climb into the ring with former world heavyweight boxing champion Smokin Joe Frazier, who is 62.

The boxing match is expected to be held at The Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN as a fund-raiser to help Herenton’s former college, LeMoyne-Owen College, which currently faces a debt of more than $6 million which $1 million of that must be raised by early June.
