Memphis Hip-Hop Community Doing Some Good in the Hood

The Hip-Hop community is doing some good in the hood this holiday season. A press conference will be held this Wednesday November 16th at 1PM at the Plush Club Entertainment Complex, 380 Beale Street for an upcoming awards show set to honor the quote “pioneers of Memphis rap”.

The event is being produced by Unified Memphis Artist, a non-profit organization headed by DJ personality and Industry insight figure ‘Downtown’ Jackson Brown. Jackson Brown tells MemphisRap.com, who has taking a part in helping sponsor the event, that quote, “This event is all about giving to those in need during the Holiday season and honoring mostly the pioneers of Memphis rap this time. We’ll take care of them first and foremost, then following shows will recognize the new cats in the Business.” “I was around when Memphis rap first broke,” Mr. Brown continues. “I mean I was here when DJ Paul and others were making mixes on the streets and DJ’ing at Club Memphis and other clubs. I actually was the first DJ to break alot them cats’ songs on a major radio station.”

The awards show is titled Hope for The Holidays Awards Show and Fundraiser. The theme of this years’ event is: Artist Development, Artist Cares. The event is scheduled to take place Friday December 16, 2005 at the Plush Club, located at 380 Beale Street in historic downtown Memphis.
