| From a small town in Northwest Mississippi to being nationwide known is what this young artist plans to acheive in the near future, and with the lyrical content shown in his upcoming album titled "Real Talent" he is surely headed in the right direction. The twenty-three year old Mississippian has been rapping since age fifteen, but with the lack of support frome as he says "Phony promoters and wannabe managers" he has never quite gotten the attention needed to be noticed. Although he has done many performances in a number of different places across North Mississippi including opening up for "Plies" amd what he described as the greatese show he has had the oppurtunity to do was being the opening act for Memphis known rapper "Yo Gotti." "It was a big stage, a big crowd, just a great experience and they showed love" he says. The rapper was also complimented by B.E.T. Senior Show Writer of 106th and Park "Pat Charles" after a performance in Texarkana Arkansas, alongside fellow rapper and friend GD."He came up to us after the show shook our hands and told us we did a great job, that he really liked it, it gave me a good feeling" he says. Icey's lyrical skills are what he describes as "Real Talent" going further beyond the lines of just making an album based on selling drugs, violence, and trying to get someone to do a dance you've made out of a song, etc. "I like music thats deep, songs about real life situations people can relate to, something that will move you, I try to bring out emotions in my songs whether it be sadness, happiness, or anger" he says. And he gives an example of those emotions in his new singles such as "Ms. Temptacious" a song about him trying to stay faithful to his girlfriend while struggling to fight off the everyday temptations in a world filled with very enticing women and consequential situations; and “Lost Without You” a song where the rapper is almost pleading for the girl who left him for some unspoken reason to return back to him, and while listening to this song it is as if you can almost feel the loneliness, the anxiousness, the anguish, and the depressed mood that the rapper aimed to portray. He proclaims, “I may not have achieved as much as others have even locally, but I’m still grateful for what I’ve done so far, and I hope that one day I can make a real impact in the music industry.” |
