INV, Memphis' very own soulful R&B duo. Starting out as a 6 member singing group in 2001 to a 2 member duo in the present. Group members consist of Marcus Holmes aka (Lover Boy) the founder of the group, and Anthony Beasley Jr. aka (Ant B) singer/producer. Lover Boy normally singing high and Ant B singing low, but every now and then they switch up to show their versatility.
The original group name was "Harmonee". The name came about because of the beautiful harmony that the group brought whenever they sang together. Singing in churches and wherever they could, the name and what they were known for only got better. As few members departed from the group, it only got better and along came a new name.
The name would become "Suave X". Not many people liked the name, but it wasn't forgotten once people heard the sound. As the group underwent more change, it finally came down to a new and final name "INV" given to them by a producer that they worked with in the past. As most groups do, INV went through many different changes and have performed at many places: Martini Room, Shell Entertainment Complex, Center For Southern Folklore, The New Daisy Theater, and other places around Memphis. They even auditioned for Bad Boy (Diddy's Label) when he first came to Memphis looking for talent before "Making The Band" came for auditions. Being the only singing group or act there at the time, it is believed that this was Diddy's reason for coming back to Memphis.
Lover Boy and Ant B met @ work with a number of others who were also in the group before. Little did they know what was in store for them in the future. Both having a passion for music and singing they stuck together through the storm. Now there is a bright future ahead of them as they prove themselves worthy of the spotlight. They have a huge list of influences. Gospel Recording artist "Earnest Pugh" (uncle of Ant B) is one of his greatest influences and idols in music. Ant B is also a producer going under a different identity (Da Creapa) working with such artists as "Lord Infamous" and "Koopsta Knicca" of Three 6 Mafia.
Though they are down to 2 members now. They still posses the ability to compliment each other's vocals and blend with some great harmony. Even though there isn't record of many duos in the R&B game, they have what it takes. They have their own unique style and sound and can't be compared to duos before them. Now signed to an Indie label in California, and working on album "Grown Man Business", INV is on their way to becoming superstars. |
