The Highland/University of Memphis area Double Deuce Nightclub was shut down early Sunday morning (Oct. 25).
Deuces, located at 557 S. Highland, has been under investigation for several months due to complaints that the club has been serving alcohol to minors. At 12:15 Sunday Morning (Oct. 25), Vice officers of the Organized Crime Unit stormed into the night club and issued a nuisance order resulting in the closing of its doors. Police say they have responded to numerous calls to the club ranging from assaults to intoxicated patrons and let's not forget underage drinking. "If it weren't for the door men who were letting kids in, this wouldn't have happened," says Dixie, a regular at 'Deuces.'
"People should have known this was going to happen when half of the ones that were drinking underage were being fed alcohol by the ones that were old enough... It is a shame adults (21 AND UP) can't do what they are supposed to... GRRR...," says Jessica, another 'Deuces' club goer, via MySpace.
The Double Deuce Nightclub will remain closed until further notice and the owners are due in court October 30th 2009.

I agree with the decision to shut it down until they can get new employees that are going to pay attention to the crowd they are serving. Underage drinking can actually be very dangerous and puts the owners at risk for a serious lawsuit. - Bon E.
