| Born and raised in the Memphis, TN, area, Dustin "Dizzy D" Warren has been destined for a music career since he was old enough to walk. Coming from a family with a diverse musical background, Dizzy quickly took an interest in the world of music. Dizzy and his childhood friend, Jbeats, began making songs during their early high school years. Jbeats would produce the records while Dizzy focused on honing his writing and lyrical skills. Rather than pursuing a hip-hop career immediately, Dizzy decided to enroll in college courses at the University of Memphis. While earning his degree, Dizzy wrote hundreds of songs as his lyrical prowess continued to improve. He quickly began landing songs on the mixtape scene in Memphis, and performed at countless college parties. Notable performances in Dizzy's career include a Source Magazine Hip-Hop Showcase, Memphis' annual Africa in April festival, numerous shows at Memphis’ area clubs, and performing at the 2010 Southern Entertainment Awards show. Not long after receiving his college degree, Dizzy D's music career immediately catapulted with the success of his first commercially released single, "What It Be Like". The single achieved #1 ranking on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart, and Billboard's Hot Singles Sales chart simultaneously. "What It Be Like" also reached as high as #63 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which reflects Top 100 radio play and sales. Rather than celebrating or becoming complacent, Dizzy showed his work ethic, as he continued to push forward with new projects. Living by the motto of, "You are only as good as your next single,” Dizzy wrote and featured on female R&B artist, Christelle's, "What You Gon Do Wit It". The single soared to #1 status on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart, as well as consistently appearing in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot Singles Sales chart throughout 2009. Building on their initial success, Dizzy teamed with Christelle (2010 SEA Indie R&B Artist of the Year) once again in early 2010 to release the highly anticipated single “Crush On You”, which has all ready achieved placement on various Billboard Singles charts. The single has peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Dance Singles Sales chart, and in the top 5 on two other charts. This sizzling single also impacted internet radio, garnering 1000+ spins per week. In regards to terrestrial radio, “Crush On You” has received spins at over 120 FM radio stations across the United States and the campaign is still growing. Furthermore, this single has reached as high as the #8 independent song for all of Urban radio. “Crush On You” also peaked at #60 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which reflects Top 100 radio play and sales. This makes Dizzy one of only four Memphis artists to hit the Top 100 in 2010 (Yo Gotti, 8Ball & MJG, K. Michelle). Normally, achieving immediate success would distract a young artist, but Dizzy has remained focused on his goals. He continues to constantly write, record, and network. As one of the hottest unsigned talents in hip-hop with a buzz that continues to grow, Dizzy is all ready looking to the future and preparing to release his next smash. The sky is the limit for this fresh, new artist on the rise! |
