Is is Anna? M-Town Hate or M-Town Love

Just recently at a Three 6 Mafia meet-and-greet at Cat's Music in Memphis, there is video of fellow Memphis rapper Kinfolk Kia Shine being dissed by the local legends this past Sunday.

Now, the first question should be- "Where did this all this 'anna' stem from?

Every since Kinfolk Kia Shine's beginning in the Memphis rap scene, he had a strong disdain towards Three 6 Mafia. From calling DJ Paul & Juicy J "devil-worshippers" to stating that the reason that the Memphis rap music scene is "f-'d up" is because of Three 6's massive control over the city's two major urban outlet's: K-97 & Hot 107.1, Shine made his point clear. He was anti-Three 6 and he would be the first CEO/artist to make it out of the city without coming through the Three 6 collective or using their radio influence. He actually did some of what he set out to do.

Now, a lot of what Shine states is rooted in perception. For example, when Three 6 Mafia had the song "Gangsta Walk" with David Banner in rotation at Hot 107.1, they also had Ludacris' "I Wanna", Lil' Wyte's newest single at the time "I Sho Will", Lil'  Flip's "Represent" feat. Three 6 Mafia all within the same hour rotation. That could be seen as suspicious seeing that all of those songs may not have been officially "Three 6 Mafia" songs, they all were DJ Paul & Juicy J Productions. But that's neither here nor there.

What is interesting is throughout all of this, Kia Shine decided that by going to that by going to that Three 6 Mafia meet-and-greet, that everything would be cool. Yes, Kia Shine within the last 3 years has went from have a 10 million dollar distribution deal with TVT Records to losing that deal, becoming homeless only to built a solid buzz as a solo artist signed to now Universal/Motown.

In a funny sort of way, Shine has won and brought back a light to Memphis in the last year that was refreshing due to his latest release "Due Season" with the hit singles "Krispy" and the T-Mix assisted "WOW". But, it's funny how certain successes get eclipsed by others.

Three 6 along with their monster singles "Stay Fly" feat. Eightball & MJG & Young Buck and "Poppin' My Collar" collected a platinium plaque for their last release "Most Known Unknowns" and it was that history-making Oscar win that soldified their status in Memphis music history and music history, period.

Shine's purpose in going to meet with Three 6 was to extend an olive branch that has been sadly lacking in the local Memphis scene. But Three 6 Mafia response was anything other than that. Shine said as he walked on stage with Paul & Juicy "I'm supporting the city". DJ Paul stated as Shine was escorted away,"You not the M-Town because you just started doing M-Town music when your other stuff didn't sell."

Kia Shine & Memphis needs to understand that it takes time to heal the wounds of the past. Three 6 Mafia has made their own name and there is no excuse that anyone can say why they are not winning. People should respect what Three 6 has brought to the city and aspire to get on the level that they are on. No, Paul & Juicy are NOT the end all, be all. But, they are a very good example along with Eightball & MJG and others how to make the city shine along with the rest of the South.

Memphis needs to be seen on a major scale in regards to rap music and maybe the ultimate healing process will come from our individual progress versus face-to-face talks. It's coming back around and with that being known, hopefully that is enough to instill that Memphis "musical grind" that the city is so known for.

Focused Disgust and Aimed Visions (F- the B.L.U.E Crush too!)

At this point in the game...all I can really say is that not only am I surprised that 3 officers shot Sean Bell and got off a week ago. See, this is what we come to know as Black people in this country (especially Black males) as how it is in this to live in this country.

I mean honestly...I have been stopped many times before and the same outcome could have happened. Imagine...

"Another man was slain in North Memphis neighborhood last night. The victim was up and coming rapper L'Daialogue DiCaprio who was well on his way to becoming a national rap sensation with his Bluff City Daialogue mixtape series and countless other guest appearances on other DJ's projects around the nation. He was pulled over Friday at 6p.m. at the corner of Frayser Boulevard and Hollywood Street. Reports
say that L'Dai was pulled over in a routine traffic stop that went terribly wrong.”

“Police reports state that L'Dai was mistaken for having a weapon that turned out to be a copy of his latest mixtape in his hand. Police reportedly opened fire striking L'Dai 16 times before reloading to shoot him another 16 times. Witness accounts state that the suspect was unarmed and on the way to a concert appearance in FedEx Forum Arena with other local artists Three 6 Mafia, 8Ball & MJG and Yo Gotti and The Blockburners."

Now, in that perspective...I send my condolences to the Bell Family. Now, as a community...what is next? I want to grab the nearest 9 milli and take to the streets...but who will ride with me?

See, I know that the government has the nation at its whims now. Every economic stimulus check that is being written is just another payoff from the Bush regime. Along with BET and just television in general...we as a people need something stronger to guide our minds, mend our hearts and empower our motives to gain justice for everything.

Sean Bell...oil prices…the economy. Everything. I just feel like grabbing a gun and cracking some heads. I could say whole bunch about the police…but hey, what would that do? They still have the establishment’s support and I still have the establishment on my tail.

So, all I can say is…we all need to continue to have focused disgust and aimed visions because without those two things….we will lose. I really don’t care right now. I feel like the summer is going to be hotter than it ever has….especially for the NYPD. I just hope they understand that sun block and suntan lotion won’t stop this heat.

IT IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT ISN’T A REVOLUTION…IT’S JUST AN AWAKENING!!!! OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!!!

2Deep Album is Coming...along with other re-ups

Since the beginning of rap, the chemistry of 2 emcees together has resulted in some of hip hop’s classic masterpieces. Albums like Eightball & MJG’s “Coming Out Hard”, UGK’s “Ridin’ Dirty” and Outkast “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik” proved that Southern emcees can indeed create powerful music with lyrics to match.

2Deep, a group hailing from the streets of Memphis is another duo on the verge of the doing the same. Cousins by blood and emcees by name, L’Daialogue DiCaprio and High Ruler King Cane got their start at Trezevant High School. Between classes, rap music became the escape from the harsh realities of the Frayser neighborhood they stayed in North Memphis. During lunch periods and talent shows, they could be found rapping with a fierce intensity and calculated precision that could only be described as mesmerizing by whoever was fortunate enough to hear their ciphers.

Eventually, the poetry they reserved for lunchroom ciphers made there way into L’Daialogue’s home studio. After years of peddling TDK tapes and cds exclusively in their neighborhood and beyond, they decided to take their music to another level.

Their debut release, Brothaz of tha’ Struggle, is one that has just as much symbolic currency as street style that shows an internal struggle that is greater than just the city of Memphis. Stemming from the title, this duo ties soulful production with lyrics of conscious relevance and urban intensity. The first single, “The City of Playaz and Macs” gives an indication of a special dichotomy of street reality when their lyrics connects the symbolism from the landmarks of the Memphis-Arkansas bridge and the Pyramid located on the Mississippi River. With the single’s xylophone-laced rhythm and rolling bass line, 2 Deep will leave an impression that varies from many others in rap today. They definitely plan to obtain greatness through their struggle and they hope to achieve a deeper level of consciousness through their poetry.

****Audio Sample will up uploaded soon****
