www.twitter.com/GodfellowPOW www.myspace.com/godfellowartistspage Godfellow, 23 born March 5, 1985; Cortez Antwan Currie started indulging in music; singing at the early age of ten. Raised in a single parent home in Memphis.Tn on the rugged streets of Orangemound, Godfellow struggled to adapt to the life that was given unto him. He continued to use music as a way out. Throughout his years in school Godfellow became a star among students and peers by perfoming at Graduations, Holiday Shows, Student Council Events, and much more. Moving to Nashville,Tn at the age of twelve in 1995 Godfellow found that music was his calling, and effortlessly pursued a carrer in the entertainment industry, was a member of a duo Sunnyveiw Killas in the Kings Lane Area. Godfellow remained away from his hometown (Memphis,Tn) for three years; In 2000 Godfellow returned to Memphis, with a new mindset and out look on life. He remained consistent on networking, writing songs, recording, and remaining true to his first love Music. After returning in 2000, Mr.Del (former member of Three Six Mafia) and the Holy South were mentors at the time, while Godfellow struggle to get focused; he was inspired to name his self "God-fellow",(which stands for "God's Friend") because God protects him through all his trails and test. Working with several producers Godfellow created "R records" a tribute to the group with his Uncle F.A.C.E (Samuel Echols of Out Da Frame/Dynammik Productions) named simply "The Remidies". In 2002 Godfellow connected with one producer named Gangsta Rob (Robert Jones of Out Da Frame/Dynammik Productions) which he made the track for "Stand My Ground" peformed by "The Remidies" at several clubs around Memphis with local acts Mac E (8 Wayz Ent/Mjg Musik/Hy Lyfe Inc., Kavious, Kinfolk Thugs (Flypaper Ent.), Deion Perigon, U.W.G, The Officials, Tension&Teflon (TNT), and many more artist. Godfellow joined the army in 2005, currently out of the army and traveling he has pushed "Dynammik Production Mix Cd Vol.1" in: Memphis,Tn,Nashville, Tn, Richmond/Petersburg/Virginia Beach, Virginia,Chicago, Detroit, The State of Washington,Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and many more places. No longer with my former label (Out Da Frame/Dynammik Production).Another producer was Deshaun Hoyle (Hoyletown Ent) which lead him to the next level. Godfellow worked with the hardest working promoters in Memphis, one was Mike now promoter of Cashmoney Records/I&E Ent Artist Yo Gotti, "Killer Mike" (former Three Six 6 Mafia Affiliate) in the early stages of Killer Mike's Star Studded roster, another was Mista Ian (Yo Gotti's Former Best Friend & has Hit Single "Walk It Like A Dog") Club Level One (Old Club Liquid). In 2006 He has done successful A&R work (2 years exp.) for Johnny Kim's (Hollywood Director/The Independence Day, Dustin Checks In, The Grinch That Stole Christmas, ect) Spin Off label of Dereko Ent (Film Company/Beverly Hills, Ca) "Glamourocke Records/Universal Music Group(Sony/BMG)" alongside Farris "RJ Groove" Jackson. Now, 2008 Godfellow has remained "independent" unsigned hype, that created a branded "international" movement back in 2000 named, "The Independent Movement" which is a netwoking organization for entertainment professionals and a promotion company simply named "Phree Promo LLC" giving local artists and venues opportunity to get free promotion in their local area. Continuing to travel the world he now resides in the Tacoma/Seattle, Wa area where he continues to network and soon to become one of the biggest professionals in the entertainment business. Affiliated with the premier websites in the country Seaspot.com (Seattle, WA), Solmovement.com (Worldwide), SouthernCoalitionMovement.com (Memphis/Worldwide) and Memphisrap.com (Memphis,TN) also the number one Northwest Movement "Block Teamsters Union"-www.BlockTeamstersUnion.com (Sea-Sick,Do 4 Self, Presidential Clothing, AMG Studios, StreetTeamz.com,X104.5,KUBE 93.3,Parker Brothers, I Gang, Evergreen Productions and The Committee, Debutante Promotions, Beezie 2000, SeaSpot.com (Kun Luv), Help Sweeng Get It Foundation, and many many more. Godfellow is a name you should remember. MemphisRap.com Interveiw with The Independent Movement
Lately there have been a buzz of movements throughout the Memphis, TN area that are all well-focused on trying to bring together the musicians, artists, models, rappers, singers, dancers and more in the city. Some are positive and some are not, whereas some seem to be somewhat effective, while others simply seem to be riding on pure faith alone. When attending an event in Memphis, you're sure to catch a glimpse of some hot local talent but you're also sure to run across a postcard here and a postcard there with local artists trying to get exposure for their CD and it's simply going to take more marketing than that.
" Rapper and producer Cortez "Godfellow" Currie, once of the Out Da Frame's/Dynamimk Production's print has also stated he too is working on a movement, one he calls an Independent movement for local artists to promote positive rap lyrics into their CDs and performances. "I started as a Gangsta rapper when I started rapping," Godfellow told MemphisRap.com. "But I started out singing at the age of 10. I think rappers can be more positive but they also can remain true to their gangsta lifestyle in their lyrics as well, but until we start coming together as artists and media, we won't get far." |
