8 Yr Old Child Found Chained Up, Malnourished Inside Southeast Memphis Home

Imagine finding a child chained up in a backyard shed, now imagine how that child must feel being chained up by the very people meant to protect him – his family.

Sounds like something out of a movie, but this happened in the real world according to authorities.

Memphis Police say that they found a child locked and chained in his own home near southeast Memphis. The child was suffering from malnutrition and had an ulcer on his leg.

One neighbor was shocked when speaking about the people that live at the home saying that they seemed like pretty nice people, while other neighbors were not surprised telling WMC-TV that the boy had been definitely locked up on at least one other occasion.

Some neighborhood kids actually had came to play basketball with the young boy when the 8 year-old replied to the children that he couldn’t come to play saying, “I can’t, I’m chained up.”

When a neighborhood boy asked him why he was chained up, he replied, “ask my momma.”

Department of Children Services investigated the home along with the police attempting to determine the relationship between the adults in the house and the other children in the home which one was as young as 2 years-old.

According to authorities, the young boy told them that he had been chained prior in a shed in their backyard for 3 days denied food the entire time.

It was later found that the young boy was adopted.

The adults in the home have since been charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect and the children of the home have been placed in a foster home.
