Houston Father Shoots Teen Boy, 17, He Caught In Bedroom With His Daughter, 16

Johran McCormick 17 killed after being found under friends bed

A 55 year old Houston father in Harris County, Texas will likely not be charged after authorities say he fatally shot a teen boy who was hiding in his daughter’s bed room.

Johran McCormick, 17, is the teen boy who authorities say the father shot last Thursday morning after finding the teen in the bedroom of his 16 year-old daughter.

Apparently the daughter had snuck the teen in sometime after mid-night into her bedroom, but was busted when the girl’s younger brother went to say goodnight and saw feet sticking from under the bed. This was believed to have been around after 2 AM.

The younger brother alerted his dad, who allegedly confronted McCormick after reportedly being told by his daughter that she did not know him.

At some point the father called 911, but got into an argument with the teen. The teen was shot following that because, according to the father’s statement to police, he opened fire when he told McCormick not to move but he says the teen suddenly moved his hands like he was reaching for something.

McCormick died at the scene of the incident and it wasn’t until later it was found that the victim was the apparent boyfriend of the daughter whom she allegedly snuck into her bedroom.

The father reportedly suffered panic attacks following the shooting death of the teen and was taken to the hospital for his attacks and will unlikely be charged for the shooting, prosecutors say.

Although the father is unlikely to face charges, the teen’s mother Zakia McCormick wants murder charges while an investigation in the shooting is still pending.

  1. Of course the young man should not have been there at all, the young lady should not have lied. The father, however, had already called 911 and should have known that this was just a child in his home. To shoot this young man because he moved when the father told him not to move…
Such a sad ending. I think Dad should have used a little more sense with a loaded gun in his hand. It’s so easy to end a life, but impossible to bring that life back after the trigger is pulled. The kid was only 17, messing around with his 16 year old daughter, do you really think he was going to be packing a weapon? I think not.

    • Uhhh…. when a stranger in your house that you assume has just raped your daughter moves suddenly in a direction that you speculate could have a firearm, you do not wait to see if he is actually going for his pants. At that point, the father was lead to believe by the daughter that this kid forcefully entered the residence to rape her. One would logically believe that he must have some sort of weapon in able to coerce the girl into staying silent. The father was not going to wait a few minutes until the cops showed up when he believed he was in immediate danger.

  2. I am sorry, but the Father did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG! The blame lies with the 2 disobedient kids! If anyone should be punished for this, it should be the young girl because she lied, and the young man should have been at home!

    • I SO TOTALLY AGREE! THE FAST A-S LITTLE GIRL SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR LYING AND CAUSING HIS DEATH. WE ALL KNOW HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THERE BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO? TEENS WILL BE TEENS. BUT SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE LIED WHICH CAUSED THIS YOUNG MAN’S DEATH. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! ESPECIALLY KNOWING WHAT TYPE OF FATHER YOU HAVE! I’M QUITE SURE YOU KNEW THERE WAS A WEAPON IN THE HOUSE! IT’S TEXAS! YOU AND THAT YOUNG MAN WERE BOTH CARELESS! NOW HE’S DEAD AND YOUR STILL AROUND TO CATCH THE NUTT YOU WERE SO DESPERATELY SEEKING!
