Memphis man killed in Hickory Hill John J.P. Shelley

The family of a 42 year-old Memphis husband and father, John Shelley, who was shot and killed while renovating a home in Hickory Hill, is searching for answers on why he was targeted on Friday. John Shelley is believed to have been killed in an attempted robbery by two men.

According to reports, John Shelley (J.P. Shelley) was renovating a vacant home on Scottsdale Avenue when two men in a green car approached Shelley at gunpoint and fired shots.

The two suspects fled leaving John Shelley wounded.

John Shelley later died after being rushed to The MED (Regional Medical Center at Memphis).

His wife of 19 years, Beverly Shelley, stated her husband worked part-time renovating as a side job and was more of stay at home dad, reports WREG.

Beverly Shelley also stated that he helped take care of their 4 year-old and 7 year-old children and sadly he missed his son’s 7th birthday party on Friday due to being gunned down.

Police are now hoping someone may have information and, if so, ask that they call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
