No More Ho Hos, Twinkies & Wonder Bread: Hostess Closing Down All 1100+ Businesses

There will be no more Ho Hos, Twinkies, Hostess Cupcakes including Ding-Dongs as the Hostess Brands, Inc company is set to close down it’s business including it’s Memphis plant and over 500 other centers after union strikes.

Hostess will be closing down 33 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, 570 bakery outlet stores and putting an end to over 5,000 delivery routes.

The snack food company asked a judge for permission to go out of business which would place 18,500 employees nationwide out of work in hopes of liquidating after filing Chapter 11 Bankruptcy earlier this year. Currently the Twinkies, Ho-Hos and Ding-Dongs are flying off the selves as everyone is trying to stock up on what could be their last cream-filled Hostess snack.

There was a strike going on in Memphis and other plants before the announcement which apparently has forced Hostess to file for Federal bankruptcy to close the company business.

Around 250 workers are employed at the Memphis plant. The workers at the company 400 Monroe Avenue plant reportedly joined the strike even though they were not originally set to close down.

Still don’t give up on the Wonder Bread, Twinkies, Ho Hos, Zingers, Muffin Loafs, Suzy Q’s and Pies as the company is hoping to sell all its’ assets — meaning there is still hope for the cream-filled cakes and breads to make sure the Hostess brands live on.

Hostess Brands will sell its popular brands, including Hostess, Drakes and Dolly Madison, which make the cake products such as Twinkies, CupCakes, Ding Dongs, Ho Ho’s, Sno Balls and Donettes. Bread brands to be sold include Wonder, Nature’s Pride, Merita, Home Pride, Butternut, and Beefsteak, among others.
