Dark Knight Turns Into Dark Terror: 12 Dead In Movie Theater Shooting

A family night to an Aurora, Colorado movie theater turned into fright night as a gunman went to the front of the theater to throw tear gas and open fired at a premiere opening of the new Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises.”

As many sat in awe thinking that the smoke and sounds of gunfire were effects and part of the movie, it came to realization that it wasn’t effects but real! Audience members began screaming and running to escape, many with blood on their clothes.

The shooting believed to have been at the sole hands of suspect James Holmes, 24. According to reports, the shooting left 12 people dead and close to 40 injured as young as 3 months-old.

James Holmes, who cooperated with police, was arrested by authorities at the back of the Century Aurora 16 theater and reportedly had a rifle in his possession. Another gun was found in the Century Aurora 16 theater. Law enforcement believes at least four guns were used in the movie theater shooting.

Since Holmes’ arrest, federal law enforcement state that they found ‘items of interest’ in his apartment.

Meanwhile, Warner Brothers have cancelled the movie premiere in Paris and other city theatres are taking safety precautions to prevent copycat acts.

The shooting took place approximately 13 miles from where the 1999 Columbine High School massacre happened.
