Memphis Store Employee Arrested Scanning Lottery Tickets

Charles Piggs, 23, has been charged with felony theft after alleging scanning multiple lottery tickets looking for a winning ticket.

The operator of a convenience store on Shelby Dr. near Lamar was alerted by lottery security officials.

He began to investigate the large amount of non-winning lottery tickets scanned at the store earlier this month.

The evidence led to Piggs, a clerk at the store who scanned $3700 worth of tickets during the first week of the year.

On January 05, a ticket was paid out for $1208. The next day, Mr. Piggs called in sick.

Piggs was being held on a $2000 bond.
