Memphis Man Accused Of Running Multimillion Dollar Drug Ring Pleads Guilty

Accused drug kingpin Craig Petties has plead guilty to over 23 counts of racketeering, murder for hire and money laundering.

In Dec. 2009 Craig Petties plead guilty to more than 23 charges that followed a 50 count indictment in 2002.. the pleas were then sealed by order of the Federal Court. Petties was accused of running a multimillion dollar drug ring out of Memphis. When the indictment was put against him, Petties reportedly fled the city to hide in Mexico where he was found in January 2008.

From Mexico, Petties supposedly ordered the murders of many of his enemies back in Memphis.

Petties was charged and has plead guilty to counts of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) conspiracy; violent crime in aid of racketeering activity, specifically the murder of Mario McNeal on March 16, 2007; conspiracy to use interstate commerce facilities to commit murder for hire; conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute at least five kilograms of cocaine; possession with intent to distribute approximately 600 pounds of marijuana; conspiracy to distribute at least 1000 kilograms of marijuana; conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Petties’ sentencing for these charges could equal life in prison, and includes possessing a weapon while in a Federal Correctional institution.
