2009 SEA Weekend Recap, Memphis on Top!

After a long successful weekend at the Southern Entertainment Awards this past weekend, Memphis did very well by walking away with over 9 awards. They held the events Thursday through Sunday at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica, MS only about 30 minutes outside of Memphis, TN. Artists, Producers, DJ’s, Models and Media drove from all over the South to attend.

They began the events off with a Power of Women Conference and covered everything form a Celebrity Bowling Night to a Models and Bottles party. The atmosphere was great, tons of networking and partying throughout the entire weekend. Many artists passing out samples of their music while models were getting their foot in the door by jumping into any photo opportunity possible. The award show was on Sunday at the gorgeous Millennium Theater inside the Gold Strike Casino. It was a packed house and they began the show with a live on-stage DJ and silly host, Solo aka Da Come Up Kidd. A few performances of the night were Donnie Cross, Don Money, Jokamane, Ms. Honeysiccle, Gucci Mane, and Kas the God.

Memphis walked away with “Indie Producer of the Year” awarded to Drumma Boy, “Indie Artist of the Year” awarded to Yo Gotti, “Male Radio Personality of the Year” awarded to Jus Borne, “Female Radio Personality of the Year” awarded to Big Sue, “Mixtape Artist of the Year” awarded to Gucci Mane, “Industry Event of the Year” awarded to Crunkfest, “Industry Power Player of the Year” awarded to DJ Freddy Hydro, “Slept on Model of the Year” awarded to Cherese and of course “Website of the Year” awarded to MEMPHISRAP.COM.

We would like to thank everyone that voted and helped put Memphis on top this year. The award show turned out great and we are looking forward to another year of SEA events. More pictures will be posted to the site this week.
